Not just a campaign. A movement.

My name is Jasmine Brown.

I was born and raised in Pensacola. My mom has worked in a local factory for decades. My dad built a lawn business. Both parents raised me to be a hard worker, value my community, and stand up for others.

As I grew up, I saw that the basic things we all need to survive like housing and food were getting harder and harder for most people to afford. I saw that Pensacola was getting transformed by wealthy developers who make enormous profits from the outrageous housing costs, while the rest of us struggle to make ends meet. I saw that more and more people were being forced into homelessness.

In 2022, I joined the fight against Florida Power and Light’s predatory behavior in our community. I witnessed our Mayor and a handful of City Council people side with the FPL millionaires, ignoring the pleas of thousands of Pensacola residents whose bills were totally unaffordable. That is when I realized we need a movement capable of giving a voice to the working people that make this city run. Since then, I have been an active community organizer committed to uniting people across lines of division.

I am running for Mayor of Pensacola because Pensacola should be for the people, not the developers.

For years, the cost of living in Pensacola has skyrocketed. No matter which way you look, working people are being squeezed — housing costs, electricity costs, and even downtown parking expenses keep increasing, but our paychecks never do.

Meanwhile, our elected officials never seem to offer any real solutions.

Instead, they give our land and money away to the same developers and landlords who are making enormous profits off of our high housing costs. They cut deals with the executives of Florida Power and Light, which is exploiting our community with higher and higher light bills. They prioritize the interests of the unelected Downtown Improvement Board over the needs of the families that have lived downtown for generations.

For far too long, this city has served the interests of an elite few. It’s time for a change.

As a socialist, I believe that the government should be a tool for the people, not a playground for the rich and well-connected. Pensacola has plenty of resources to invest in truly affordable housing and meeting the needs of our community members. This city deserves a mayor who will fight for housing and economic justice, and who will give the workers of this city a real voice in how our resources are used.

This is not just a campaign, this is a movement. Join us!
